Ely Buendia has denied reports that Eraserheads are reuniting.

“No, it’s just a special thing we did for Esquire,” he texted Yahoo Philippines when asked if the band was getting together again.

Asked if this meant the band was not playing the Philippines at all, Buendia replied, “No.”

The speculation

Speculation ran rife when Esquire Magazine ran a tease for its September 2014 travel issue, in which the name of the band was featured prominently in the tease.

A GMANetwork report quoted cryptic replies from Esquire editors when asked if the band was going to play when the travel issue launches.

Magazine editor Erwin Romulo joined the band during their London show and a film crew appeared in shots of the band posted on social media.

Wait for the 'announcement'

However, Romulo told Yahoo it was going to make an “announcement” on August 31 related to the tease.

The magazine’s Travel issue is going to be released on September 4.

The Eraserheads have played extensively abroad during the last two years, with reunion gigs in the US, Canada, Dubai, Sinagpore and London.

Clamor

Fans have been clamoring for the group to get together and play in the Philippines, which they haven’t done since their second reunion gig in 2009.

The band broke up in 2002.

Ely now plays with Pupil and Oktaves. Raimund Marasigan has Sandwich, Pedicab and Squid 9. Buddy Zabala is with The Dawn. And the elusive Marcus Adoro, an avid surfer, lives in La Union and has published a book of verses called "Greems."
