Bilbao preps for Yoko Ono's European tour

The Guggenheim Bilbao prepares to welcome Yoko Ono's "Half-A-Wind" restrospective this March, on the show's final schedule stop of its European tour.

Having debuted at Frankfurt's Schirn Kunsthalle in February 2013 before visiting Denmark's Museum of Modern Art Louisiana from June to September, the Half-A-Wind Show is currently in the closing days of its stint at Austria's Kunsthalle Krems.

Over 200 pieces comprise the exhibit in an effort to offer a "complete vision" of Ono's career as a conceptual and performance artist.

The exhbition spans a 60-year-period, charting Ono's rise to prominence alongside her relationship with Beatles frontman John Lennon and their well-known peaceful "Bed-In" protests.

But it was her already established work as an avant-garde artist that helped bring the two creatives together in the first place.

So it is that "Half-A-Wind" sees installations, films, and photographs joined by text, music, documented performances, drawings and other objects.

"Yoko Ono. Half-A-Wind Show. Retrospective" runs March 14 to September 1, 2014, at the Gehry-designed Guggenheim Bilbao in northern Spain.
