The Kapatid actor thinks Jomari Yllana's criticism of P-Noy is uncalled for

Derek Ramsay feels for his friend Kris Aquino, now that she’s being bashed for defending her brother, President Benigno Aquino III over the ‘misencounter’ that took the lives of 44 Special Action Force (SAF) members.

“You know me, lahat ng atake I trained myself to ignore, but when my brother’s life is threatened, a line is crossed that I will stand up to defend," she told a basher.

Very sensitive

Derek thinks people should not make fun of his friend’s feelings.

“It’s very sensitive. We don’t know the details. For someone to make comments about killing the brother, it’s something you don’t joke about,” the star of TV5’s Mac and Chiz told the press on Tuesday, February 3.
A concerned Derek sent Kris a text message advising her to be strong, and to assure her that he’s just around to support her.

“Sana tumigil na ang mga bashers. It's hurtful stuff. If you’re wishing for someone to be dead, that’s awful. The President has his reasons. A lot of things are involved. We don’t know (much) about this touchy issue,” he added.

Jomari Yllana’s post

Derek disagrees with fellow actor Jomari Yllana’s Facebook post, where he referred to P-Noy as "ang pinakatangang presidente sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas."

“If you can’t trust our leader, nothing will happen. We put him there. Let’s trust him to lead. We just can’t turn our back on him. He can’t do it all by himself. We have so many problems in our country. It can’t be solved in even 16 years,” Derek explained.

No, he explained, he’s not  at odds with Jomari, whom Derek believes "is a nice guy." It’s just that “I don’t agree with his (Jomari's) opinion.”

Dating again

Derek, like Kris, will defend his family all the way. That’s why he thinks Kris is right in standing up for her brother at this time.

Meanwhile, the presidential sister proved how much she knows Derek when she told him, “Yan ang new girl mo!” when she first saw the non-showbiz girl the actor is now dating. Derek and the girl were not even seeing each other at that time.

“We’re taking things slow. We enjoy each other’s company. We’re gonna see where it goes from there. We don’t wanna jump into something cause we’re attracted to one another. I want a family and all that,” Derek said.

Newbie comedian

He just renewed his TV5 contract and is learning a lot from comedians Empoy (who plays his twin) and John ‘Sweet’ Lapus on the set of “Mac and Chiz.”

The self-confessed newbie comedian likens himself to a student learning from the masters.

“They can just stand there and make you laugh for a lifetime. If I stood there, I can’t do that.”

“Mac and Chiz,” which also stars Bianca King and Jojo Alejar, airs Saturdays, 8 p.m. on TV5.
