Dirty Girl Mud Run announces 2014 events

The Dirty Girl Mud Run has announced its schedule of 2014 events throughout the US. Check out it and other mud runs happening worldwide.

Dirty Girl Mud Run, called the largest female-only 5K mud run and obstacle course, is untimed and encourages women to challenge themselves in a positive, female-centric environment, regardless of athletic prowess. The run is similar to big-name races such as Tough Mudder and Spartan Race. Such runs first came about in 1995 and have developed quite a lot since then.

Entry fees for the Dirty Girl Mud Runs begin at $65, with registration available via the official site or on the day of the event. Women ages 14 years and up may participate. Races are happening in Atlanta, Georgia; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Sacramento, California; San Antonio, Texas and many more. Find the event schedule here: godirtygirl.com/events

Dirty Girl is one of many mud runs around the world. Other options include The Original Mud Run, a US event happening in southern cities including Nashville and Dallas. Tire mountains and rope swings are just some of the obstacles at this event.

Or check out Mud Day, a French mud-tastic marathon, or the Netherlands' Strong Viking Obstacle Run - Mud Edition. The mud version happens in Nijmegan, while three other versions of this obstacle course exist, including "hill" and "water" options.

Ultimate Challenge Mudrun takes place across the US and Canada, although this option accepts only teams. If that doesn't strike your fancy, try the Hog Wild Mud Run in Plant City, Florida -- a three-mile run chock-full of "action-packed obstacles."
