JhaBea wins #YahooAwards Celebrity Couple of the Year
Jake Vargas and Bea Binene (also known as JhaBea) bested four other high-profile couples to emerge on top of the heap at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 last Friday, July 18 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
JhaBea got a total of 272,406 votes in the fan-based poll.
The couple's victory is a strong punch for its closest contender, Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano, who received 206,346 votes.
Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes ranked third with 114,830 votes from DongYan fans.
Couples Bea Alonzo-Zanjoe Marudo and Angelica Panganiban-John Lloyd Cruz, took the 4th and 5th spots with 38,471 and 13,596 votes, respectively.
The Celebrity Couple, a new addition to this year’s list of categories, gathered a total of 645,649 votes.
‘Bittersweet’ relationship
In an earlier interview with Yahoo Philippines, Bea described her on/off relationship with her 22-year-old boyfriend as “bittersweet”—factoring in some inevitable arguments that make their relationship grows stronger.
“Ang problema kasi sa’min, pareho kaming ma-pride,” she related.
Jake couldn’t agree more.
“Halimbawa, kapag nag-aaway kami… hindi namin alam kung sinong unang mas bababa sa’min,” he seconded. “Pero bandang huli okay naman.”
Sealing love with permanent tattoo
Just how great is Jake’s love for Bea? Well, consider this: he had Bea’s name tattooed on his right arm.
That’s quite a big deal for the actor because he had done it twice and only for his greatest loves—the first for his mother whose name he inked after she died in 2011.
