Miss Earth 2014: Miss Netherlands Talisa Wolters

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?

I am an advanced scuba diver, and I really love the wonderful underwater world. I often go diving to see and enjoy this beauty. Unfortunately, not everyone is as careful as I am underwater. People try to touch the animals, take some corals, and drop rubbish into rivers or oceans.

I get really offended when people do this, because the underwater world is a true beauty and everyone should get the chance to enjoy this. That is why I often go diving with my diving association and clean up the mess other people have made. I try to inspire other divers to do the same. When people don’t have their diver's license, they can try to help above the sea level.

What tip can you share to promote this year's theme, Eco Tourism?

“Love our Mother Earth, and Mother Earth will love you.”

I am trying to say that people have to take care of this world we are living in. I would like to see that my future children and grandchildren can live in a good environment. Therefore, we all have to take good care of Mother Earth!
