P-Noy skips Chiz-Heart wedding
President Benigno Aquino III took Senator Francis Escudero's advice to forego his wedding to Heart Evangelista at Balesin Island, Quezon on Sunday, February 15.
The President did not show up at the ceremonies, where he was tapped as the Best Man.
Chiz's brother is reportedly standing in for the President.
Manila reception instead
Chiz told Philippine Entertainment Portal that he advised the President to attend his and Heart’s wedding celebration in Manila on Wednesday, February 18 instead of going to Balesin on the wedding day itself.
"Hindi sa okay lang sa akin. I told him not to [go]. And he can just join us in the Manila reception if he’s available," Chiz said.
The senator clarified that P-Noy’s decision not to show up at the wedding has nothing to do with criticisms over the Mamasapano clash which claimed the lives of 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos.
"Hindi naman [sa madaming problema]. Last year pa [nasabi ko na sa kanya]. It’s an out-of-town wedding. Hassle para sa kanya. He might have things to do. Actually, para sa amin, hassle din yun," Chiz explained.
He added, "I told him to go to Manila. In fact, the invitation I sent him was the one for Manila."
Request granted
Malacanang also said in a media briefing that P-Noy granted Chiz's request.
"We respect the decision of the bridegroom-to-be because he is the one who invites," Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said.
