Regine Velasquez: Show goes on

Life goes on for Regine Velasquez, whose father, Gerardo ‘Mang Gerry’ Velasquez, passed away last Monday, February 3, due to cardiac arrest.

She will still be holding her Valentine's concert with Martin Nievera, dubbed as "Voices of Love" on February 14 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Regine took to photo sharing site Instagram to announce that "the show must go on" as she posted a photo of their concert poster. Based on a photo posted on Instagram, she also went to her concert rehearsal with Martin on Tuesday, February 4.



Regine's husband Ogie Alcasid is having his own concert at Music Museum on February 13-15.

Regine was very close to her father, who was her vocal trainor when she was a child. Mang Gerry made sure he was there whenever Regine had a concert.

Leader of the band

Th singer-actress described Mang Gerry as the 'leader of the band.' She referred to him as such again when she announced his passing.


In an interview with Mornings@ANC, Regine thanked everyone for the outpouring of support to their family. She continues to look at things in a positive way as she  posts Bible verses and inspirational messages on her Instagram account.

"Doon ako naiiyak, naooverwhelm kasi maraming nakakalalala kay papa. May mga encounters sila kay papa. That was his legacy. He was able to touch many lives."
