Roxanne Cabanero changes statements
Roxanne Cabanero, the beauty contestant who accused host-actor Vhong Navarro of raping her on April 24, 2010, is singing a different tune.
According to the Sunday, March 2 episode of “Buzz ng Bayan,” Roxanne’s lawyer, Virgilio Batalla said his client did not say in her affirdavit that the alleged rape happened on April 24, 2010. Now, he is being quoted as saying that his client was raped between April 24 to 27, 2010.
Millenia, not Astoria
Meanwhile, Rose Ann "Rhoanne" Aguilar, Roxanne’s fellow candidate in Slimmers’ World Miss Bikini Philippines, said in her Twitter account that she saw the latter at the lobby of Millenia Suites, not Astoria Plaza “on the night of the alleged rape.”
Asked for his reaction, Batalla said Roxanne is correcting her earlier statement saying she and her fellow Miss Bikini contestants checked in at Astoria Plaza on April 24, 2010.
According to the “Buzz ng Bayan” report, Batalla said Roxanne was informed that the contest was to be held at Astoria Plaza. They moved to nearby Millenia Suites, and since the two hotels are near each other, Roxanne mentioned Astoria Plaza instead in her first affidavit.
Denials
In a statement sent to “Buzz ng Bayan,” Slimmers’ World, organizer of the bikini contest, said the candidates did not check in at Astoria or any hotel in Pasig on April 24, 2010.
Astoria Plaza management has denied that Roxanne and her fellow beauty pageant candidates checked in at the hotel on April 24, 2010. Comedian Vice Ganda, testifying in fellow “It’s Showtime” co-host favor, said the actor-TV host was a special guest in his (Vice Ganda’s) concert at Island Cove, Cavite on April 24, 2010.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ABS-CBN News, Millenia Suites management denied that the bikini contest candidates were at the hotel on April 24, 2010.
Vhong’s lawyer, Alma Mallonga’s reaction, as told “Buzz ng Bayan,” is, “Huwag tayo magbiro. Napakaspecific ng oras, panahon, at lugar. Ano ito, lokohan?”
Planned lawsuits
She added that her camp will file charges of perjury and libel against Roxanne.
Roxanne earlier shared that she was inspired to come out and seek justice after Deniece Cornejo accused Vhong of rape.
Roxanne denied receiving money from Cedric Lee, against whom Vhong filed multiple charges in connection with a mauling incident in a condominium unit at The Fort.
