Son’s question surprises Camille Prats

“Mommy, when you are gonna get married? I wanna have a brother or a sister na.”

Actress Camille Prats, unprepared for her 7-year-old son Nathan's question, remembers answering, “You’ll have to wait.”

Second chance

By ‘wait,’ the young widow (her husband, Anthony Linsangan, succumbed to cancer in 2011) means she and non-showbiz boyfriend John Yambao have no plans of tying the knot anytime soon.

“Napag-uusapan na namin, pero matagal pa. Siguro, in two years? ” she said at Nathan’s birthday party last Saturday, January 24.

But she’s open to finding happiness again.

“Hindi na ako bumabata. Magthi-30 na ako this year. Gusto ko na ring masundan si Nathan. Gusto ko, in God’s time. Happy ako sa work ko, happy ako sa school ko. Kung darating yan, di masaya.”

Father figure

Nathan (aside from the groom, of course) is one of those who will jump up and down for joy when his mom remarries because this means he will finally have a sibling.

The precocious boy is so bent on having a playmate at home, he again asked his mom, “You have to get married before you have babies (Camille and Anthony had a civil and church wedding)?  Why naman kasi you didn’t you have babies after me?”

The half-exasperated, half-amused mom can only say, “Nakakaloka itong batang ito!”

The boy has no problem getting along with his future stepdad. In fact, US-based Anthony and Nathan had a video call where the former wished Camille's son a happy birthday and told him to enjoy his day.

John is not the only father figure Nathan can turn to in the absence of his real-life dad.

Maid of honor

“Ours is a big family. Ang dami nyang (Nathan) paghuhugutan ng father figure,” Camille proudly says.

The actress’ brother, John Prats, is one of them. The doting uncle and his fiancée Isabel Oli helped make Nathan’s 7th birthday a happy one by mingling with guests like former actress Sherilyn Reyes-Tan.

But sorry, folks, John and Isabel are tight-lipped about plans for their wedding middle of May in the Prats’ farm somewhere in Batangas.

All Camille can say is she’ll be Isabel’s maid of honor, and she’s excited about the highly-private wedding.

“Oh my gosh! Ang saya!”

Yes, Camille has it all: a loving son, a good boyfriend, happy family, successful business and work she enjoys. No wonder her eyes twinkle and a smile always lights up her face.
