Vice Ganda hopes to help Vhong
TV host-comedy actor Vice Ganda is willing to help his close friend Vhong Navarro, who is facing a new rape complaint.
Vhong has filed multiple charges against the camp of Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee, while he himself faces a rape complaint filed by Deniece. Vhong has also been accused of raping beauty pageant contestant Roxanne Acosta Cabanero, who has filed charges.
"Nakakalungkot dahil kailangan niyang pagdaanan ito," Vice Ganda told Boy Abunda in an interview on "Buzz ng Bayan" on Sunday, February 23.
In Pasig…or Cavite?
According to reports, Roxanne met Vhong on the set of "Showtime" on April 24, 2010, when she and other pageant contestants were guests. She claims that the alleged rape happened that same evening after Vhong reportedly picked her up from the Astoria Hotel in Pasig City.
However, Vhong's former wife Bianca Lapus shared a photo on Instagram, which showed a poster of Vice Ganda’s concert on the evening of the same date, in which Vhong was listed as a guest performer.
The photo also included a screenshot of Kean's tweet, which was posted on April 25 at 2:20 am. He congratulated Vice Ganda and Vhong after he "got home from Island Cove."
Vice confirms Vhong was guest
Vice Ganda told Boy Abunda that he couldn’t remember if Roxanne was actually a guest in the April 24 episode of "Showtime." However, he recalled having Vhong and Kean in his Island Cove concert in Cavite the night of April 24, 2010.
"Noong nabanggit yung date, pinaalala sa akin ng mga tao na concert ko po iyon. Guest ko po si Kean Cipriano at si Vhong Navarro. Noong April 24, ang schedule noon ay sa Cavite. Sa Cavite ang leg ng concert ko na iyon, sa may Island Cove," he said.
The TV host-actor added that his concerts start late and end late, suggesting Vhong was in Cavite till late at night.
"Sigurado akong hindi nagsimula ng 8:00 iyong concert na iyon. Pinakamaaga na yung 9 or 9:30. Mahaba ako mag-concert, hindi bumababa ng dalawang oras," Vice said.
"Siya ang pinakasikat sa guests ko kaya siya ang pinakahuli. Meron siyang medley of dance. Bukod doon may interaction siya with the audiences. Kasama rin siya sa finale number ko," he added.
Vice’s ‘truth’
Vice Ganda hopes that the "truth" he knows can shed some light and help Vhong.
"Meron akong alam sa puso ko na maaaring makatulong sa kanya dahil iyon ay meron akong bitbit na katotohanan. Iyon lang ang sasabihin ko dahil maaaring makatulong iyon sa kaibigan ko at maaring makapagbigay kalinawagan sa mga iniisip ng mga tao," Vice Ganda.
Island Cove's manager Gwen Villanueva also told “Buzz ng Bayan” that Vhong was in Island Cove during Vice Ganda's concert on April 24, 2010.
