  • Aiko's story of faith and forgiveness

Unto each life some rain must fall.

Aiko Melendez’s series of torrents came last year, when she least expected it.  She was taping a teleserye  when part of her left face got swollen – or distorted, as she puts it.

“Merong nasaksak na medicine sa face ko. Apparently, nag react ako. Nagkaallergy at namaga ang mukha ko.”

    Lost teleserye

In her work where good looks is a premium, that was a no-no.

“I got a  memo from the network I was then doing the teleserye with, asking what I did to my face,” recalls Aiko. “Nawalan ako ng teleserye.”

She got a lot of bashing on Twitter.

“Walang ginawa ang taong yon kundi siraan ako sa Twitter.”

    Are you in trouble?’

Her health suffered. Aiko developed hypertension.  She was at the end of her rope.  When longtime friends like Carmina Villarroel invited her for special occasions, Aiko begged off.  Her swollen face made her insecure.  They cried with Aiko, but her insecurities persisted.

  • The Solenn Heussaff you don't know

There is no trace of the glamorous Solenn Heussaff in the jologs lady who wears  simple tees, leaves her long hair uncombed,  cuts her unmanicured nails short and pops her pimples  at home. And yet, they're one and the same.

The difference is, Solenn dresses down when she's home and glams it up wheh she faces the camera.

The real Solenn is laidback and down-to-earth.

But the real Solenn is the one who freaks her mom out because she (Solenn) would just wash her face and body with plain soap and water, even if she can afford the most expensive body wash in the market.

    Mom’s warning

“Naku, anak, pag matanda ka na, ang mukha mo!” her mom exclaimed.

Most of Solenn’s friends were guys.  And Solenn absorbed their  devil-may-care ways when it comes to looks.

“Girls  judge you by the way you look.  They look at you up and down.  The guys, mas chill, mas relaxed,” she told Yahoo! Philippines Celebrity.

True enough, Solenn stepped into the Yahoo office, a stone’s throw away from her home in an exclusive subdivision,  in  a pair of casual

  • Herbert’s children by long-time partner depressed

Their mom, Tates Gana,  may refuse to speak up, despite repeated attempts from her reporter-friends to do so.

But Athena, 18, and Harvey, 10, her children by Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista are more transparent with their emotions regarding  their dad’s relationship with host-actress Kris Aquino.

“Depressed ang mga bata. They will leave for the US with their mom as soon as possible,” a reliable source said.

    ‘Ayaw umepal’

The same source added that Tates, Herbert’s girlfriend for 20 years, is keeping quiet because “ayaw na niyang umepal pa.”

The source said Tates learned about  Herbert and Kris from somebody else while the children learned about it from media.

Tates reportedly wanted to run as Quezon City councilor but Herbert didn’t allow her. As Herbert’s unofficial assistant, she has been attending to Quezon City residents’ needs for years and knows the city inside out.

    Somebody special

It will be recalled that Kris herself admitted that he and Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista are

  • Connected to each other forever

Showbiz is an industry of families.  Beauty and talent – not to say high visibility – are second skin to  these glamorous people, whom we adore from generation to generation. Let’s take a look at the ties that bind them –  after the camera lights are off and the screen credits have long faded away.

Lorna Tolentino/NPPA ImagesLorna Tolentino, Amy Perez and Zsa Zsa Padilla are first cousins. Amy’s father, Abet Perez, is the brother of Lorna’s mother, Eloisa. Zsa Zsa’s mother, Esperanza, on the other hand, is the sister of Lorna and Amy’s mom and dad, respectively. This makes newly-married Karylle, Zsa Zsa’s daughter and Rap and Renz Fernandez,  Lorna’s sons by her late husband Rudy Fernandez, second degree cousins.

Lorna's late husband Rudy Fernandez is the first cousin of  Robin Padilla and his brothers BB Gandanghari and Rommel Padilla.  This makes Daniel Padilla,  Rommel's son by Karla Estrada, Robin's nephew. Kylie Padilla, Robin's daughter who is into showbiz, is Daniel's cousin.

  • Derek has no advice to Kris on 'Mr. Bautista'

Derek Ramsay admitted he has been giving good friend Kris Aquino pieces of advice on life from “a guy’s point of view.”  But only he and Kris know just what these words of wisdom are.

Kris Aquino: Derek deserves a shoutout/ /NPPA ImagesNow that Kris has admitted she is taking a “second chance at forever” with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista, Derek would rather keep his hands off the Kapamilya host’s  love life.

“I didn’t advise Kris on Mr. Bautista,” the Kapatid actor-host said minutes before signing a three-picture contract with Regal Entertainment on Thursday, April 10.

    Shocked, hurt

Derek denies that Kris is using him by posting sweet  messages on social media their friendship. In fact, Derek is shocked and hurt that others have been accusing Kris of using him to draw attention to herself.

“Nakarating ako kung saan ako naroon ngayon through my own efforts. It hurts na lumalabas na parang ginagamit ako.”

The year 2014 looks very promising for Derek.  He admits having a quiet love life which he wants to keep that way.

    Happy in love
