Is Nash Aguas the next Daniel Padilla?

Nash Aguas should be heralded as the most accomplished actor of his age and generation so far. This kid has become ABS-CBN’s prominent and celebrated child performer in a span of about 10 years.

At age 5, when he wowed TV audiences in 2003 on Magandang Tanghali Bayan, where he got his first showbiz break as a contestant in the noontime show’s Batang F4 competition, Nash has become the busiest Kapamilya child artist with an average of 3-4 projects a year (2004-2014).

Bright future

It seems the future can’t be brighter for Nash as ABS-CBN continues to believe and trust his talent and appeal to viewers. Nash, who first endeared himself to ABS-CBN bosses as Star Circle Quest’s first Kid Grand Questor in 2004, leads the cast of the highest rating teen-oriented programs on TV, “Luv U” and the controversial “Bagito,” a Wattpad hit that suddenly put the 16-year-old actor in a teenage father’s shoes.

Not only is Nash being pushed as a dramatic actor. He is also being groomed as a pop music act, leader the boy band Gimme5, with his “Bagito” co-stars Joaquin Lucas Reyes, John Immanuel Bermudo, Grae Fernandez and Brace Arquiza.

All signs show that Nash has what it takes to go big time in his career. “Bagito” registered a nationwide rating of 27.2% in its first episode a month ago, with continued lofty scores in its first month on air. It became the fourth most-watched show nationwide in its late afternoon timeslot. Although the topic might be taboo for some, but it is a reality a lot of families face, making it a compelling show to watch.

Next level

Nash didn’t let his believers in the network down as he continues turning in impressive performances, his acting skills really going the next level. While he did touch us with his f gritty, complex child roles, Nash’s portrayal of a teenage dad seems a long-destined calling, not that it would be a portent of this to come in real life. It shows Nash’s versatility and competence as an actor at a young age, similar to what we’ve seen in John Lloyd Cruz when he began his acting journey.

Nash’s craft is in good hands—and more challenging and milestone projects are sure to come for this rising star, together with “Luv U” and “Bagito” co-star Alexa Ilacad, who is part of the popular love team “Nlex.” We just hope he doesn’t fall into the trap most successful young artists are prone to—and the sad predicament his character in “Bagito” faces. He should just follow that amazing path he continues to take a decade ago.

Fans say Nash is the next Daniel Padilla, currently tinseltown’s top matinee idol. With the way Nash’s career is going, I don’t think anyone can oppose that.
