MYX presents 12 finalists in VJ search
Who among Cara, Camille, Angelia, Chewy, Drew, Earl, JJ, Joyce, K-La, Marga, Martin and Mike will be hailed as the next MYX VJ?
They are the 12 finalists in the search of MYX channel for its new music video ambassadors.
The music channel introduced them to the press last Tuesday, June 14 at 9501 in the ABS-CBN Compound.
"I auditioned kasi since MYX is the only music channel in the Philippines now, wala na yung iba eh, I think it's the only platform where OPM can shine and I wanna be part of that because I believe in OPM. As part of MYX, I wanna be a part of bringing OPM back up," theatre Geek Earl said. The Ateneo de Manila sophomore loves K-pop.
He and other finalists are happy none of them comes from a showbiz clan since this means the battle is equal in terms of popularity.
"When I got in, my dad was like, is there anyone from a showbiz family who got in? I said, thankfully none," Earl joked.
Sexy charmer Cara and aspiring actress Camille share the same sentiments. "It's pretty interesting kasi dito lalabas yung edge ng isa't isa di ba? Parang bahala na, dyan na lalabas na yung aggression, yung drive, it would be fun. Pero thank God, this year wala," Cara said in jest. She took up Theatre classes in UP Diliman for two years and is now taking Creative Writing. She has appeared in music videos such as 'The Bloomfields' and likes to introduce music videos herself someday..
Although none of the finalists come from a showbiz family, some of them already have experiences or exposure on TV and radio.
Probably one of the most familiar faces among them is Angelia, a Bb. Pilipinas contestant who was voted 'Face of BB. Pilipinas.' The pretty Ilongga explained why she wants to be a VJ instead of a beauty queen:
"|Dito mas nae-express ko 'yung sarili ko. I can really be myself. I'm not saying na I'm not who I am when I was with Binibini, but this time I can shout. Pwede akong kumain ng marami pala," Angelia said.
Among the celebrities who have become MYX VJs are Luis Manzano, Iya Villania and Nikki Gil.
