Big Bang proves Hallyu status in 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards

K-Pop super group Big Bang (Link: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/photos/fashion-forward-big-bang-slideshow/) proved their Hallyu star status once again during the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards by bagging the coveted "Worldwide Act" award.

The "Worldwide Act" award aims to celebrate and recognize diversity of music. The way the award works is that each region votes for a specific act as finalist for the award. The representative act per region is then pitted against those of other regions to determine the winner of the "Worldwide Act" award. After weeks of voting, Big Bang from the Asia Pacific region won the award. Big Bang won over Restart from Latin America, Lena from Europe, Britney Spears from North America and Abdelfattah Grini from Africa, India and the Middle East.

Obviously happy and surprised for the honor, Big Bang (Link: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/photos/fashion-forward-big-bang-slideshow/) members Taeyang, G-Dragon, T.O.P., Daesung, and Seungri thanked their fans, the VIPs, for their undying support. Taeyang acknowledged the commitment of their fans by saying that: "This is only because of our fans, through all the ups and downs. Thank you for standing by us."

As previously reported in Yahoo! Philippines OMG!, Big Bang (Link: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/photos/fashion-forward-big-bang-slideshow/) has been experiencing trials in their career including a deadly car accident involving Daesung (Link: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/blogs/okpop/big-bang-daesung-car-accident-045902418.html) and a marijuana-related incident involving G-Dragon (Link: http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/blogs/okpop/big-bang-g-dragon-indicted-marijuana-075935356.html).

This win only goes to show that VIPs all over the world continue to support the talented super group.
