SISTAR stages comeback with ‘Alone’

K-Pop girl group SISTAR launched a comeback this week with "Alone," the carrier single of the seven-track mini-album of the same title. The SISTAR girls Hyorin, Bora, Soyu, and Dasom worked with long-time collaborator Brave Brothers, who has produced every single release by the girls since their debut in 2010. For "Alone," the girls have put together a cohesive collection that suits them and sets them apart from other girl groups. oK Pop readers may recall that two members of SISTAR made it to the list of fabulous female rappers and underappreciated K-Pop singers.

In their less than three years together, SISTAR have produced several chart-topping hits including their debut single, "Push Push," follow up single "Shady Girl," and the #1 Music Bank hit "How Dare You." In the process, the girls won several awards, including "Best Newcomer" at the 2010 Golden Disk Awards and Seoul Music Awards. However, it was in 2011 when SISTAR really won critical and commercial acclaim with "So Cool," the carrier single of their first full-length album of the same title. The Inkigayo chart-topper won for the girls Bonsang Awards at the both Golden Disk and Seoul Music Awards.

The "Alone" MV is as impressive as the song itself. With the girls showcasing sinfully high slits and leg-revealing square cuts in their midnight black and bright red gowns, they vamp and preen all over the Las Vegas stage like it's no one's business. The striking raised-leg will no doubt start another "Genie"-like trend in K-Pop dancing. With the release of "Alone," SISTAR is going head-to-head with some of K-Pop's biggest names, including CNBLUE, 2AM, Shinhwa, 4Minute, SHINee, and Huh Gak.
