Super Junior members figure in several accidents

In the course of the past few months, members of popular Korean idol group Super Junior have figured in minor accidents in concert and on the road, resulting in some members' turning to Twitter to voice their concern for their safety and that of their fans.

A few days ago in Shanghai, China, a van shuttling Super Junior members Heechul, Shindong, Yesung, and leader Leeteuk to the airport immediately after the completion of their "Super Show 3" concert in that city, was rear-ended by fans chasing them. This was not the first time the members figured in a vehicular accident; less than two months ago, Leeteuk and Heechul were also involved in another vehicular collision, this time a seven-car mess, in the heart of Singapore for the group's first-ever full concert in that prosperous Asian nation. In both situations, Heechul took to his Twitter account, gently chastising the group's fans and encouraging them to wait until the concert to see them in person.

The "Big Space Star," as Heechul likes to call himself, cannot truly be blamed for feeling a little miffed; in addition to being in the van that was rear-ended by several zealous fans, the Twitter superstar was also hit in the face at the Shanghai concert by a fan's placard. A fancam video that caught the entire incident shows that he was hit squarely in the face by a present thrown by a concertgoer; a photo released a few days later showed a large mark right below his eye. Doubly painful was the fact that he was unable to participate in a show for which he had been scheduled; he had recently celebrated his sixth year anniversary in Korean show business.

Heechul's facial injury is the second injury to be suffered on-stage by a Super Junior member. In Singapore, Super Junior vocalist Yesung was also hit in the face by a lightstick thrown by a concertgoer. Several fancams caught this accident as well.

The recent spate of Super Junior accidents has led many ELFs, as Super Junior fans are known, to angrily chastise those in their ranks to be more considerate of their idols. After Heechul tweeted a reminder to not throw presents on the stage, several ELFs across Asia replied via their Twitter accounts that they would follow his request; it is this writer's hope that all ELFs make good on that promise.
