TVXQ dominates Japan’s album chart, releases Christmas single

Korea superstars TVXQ (Tohoshinki) dominated the Oricon album charts, Japan's premiere music ranking system, for the month of October with its album "Tone." "Tone" debuted on top of the Oricon with more than 205,000 copies sold in its first week and more than 278,000 copies sold to date.

The 205,000 copies sold by TVXQ's Yunho and Changmin mark a great sales achievement for the duo making them the first foreign male artists to sell over 200,000 copies of an album in their first week on the chart since Bon Jovi's "Crash" did more than a decade ago. "Tone" also marks the return of TVXQ to the Oricon album chart since "Best Selection 2010" charted almost two years ago. In registering their best sales week ever, both Yunho and Changmin were pleased and humbled, giving thanks to their Japanese and international fans who helped contribute to their chart-breaking success. The carrier single of "Tone" is "B.U.T. (BE-AU-TY)."

Not to miss out on the fresh spirit brought about the holiday season, TVXQ has also released the wildly anticipated "Winter Rose," its new Christmas single. According to their management, "Winter Rose" will be released as a digital single. Word isn't out on whether or not the single will also be available in hard copy format. Japanese fans are notorious for their support of tangible, in-your-hands singles, so we'll have to see if Avex Entertainment, SM Entertainment's Japanese distribution partner, will distribute the Christmas single in physical CD format. The single drops November 30.

For local Cassies (TVXQ's fans), three versions of "Tone" will be released by Universal Records through an exciting launch event entitled "Overtone: Tohoshinki Tone Album Launch" on November 26 in Astroplus The Block, Odyssey Megamall, Astroplus Mall of Asia and Odyssey SM Bacoor.
