Wonder Girls officially releases ‘Be My Baby’

The Wonder Girls, best known for their huge K-Pop hit "Nobody," have finally released the music video to their new single "Be My Baby". After exciting the Wonderfuls, the name of Wonder Girls fans, last week through the release of their hot teasers, "Be My Baby" has finally been unleashed to the world.

Much to my surprise, "Be My Baby" is not the auto-tune, electronica inspired sound I expected from their teasers. I fully expected a funky divas En Vogue-like track but their single "Be My Baby" sounded more like a throwback to the 80s with its heavy synths and swing-type baseline. The styling and choreography of Sunye, Yubin, Yeeun, Sohee and Hyerim were obviously also inspired by the good old days. The little black dresses and synchronized choreography have a Supremes-meets-Beyonce feel. I guess the Wonder Girls are truly positioning themselves as retro-style K-Pop. It's not bad but it may be difficult for them to win new and younger fans with this release.

The reactions of the Wonderfuls have also been mixed with some loving the track but others feeling that it does not break new ground for the girls. What do you think of the Wonder Girls' "Be My Baby"? Share your thoughts with us!
