Anne sees blood

She conquered. She went. Now, she's seeing an opportunity that allows her to go the next level in her career.

A promotional photo of the movie "Blood Ransom" has been shared on social media, and by the looks of it, Anne Curtis's streak is not, in any way, ending.

Details about the film have been intentionally made scarce with Anne herself keeping mum on her widely followed Twitter account.

The film's producers, Tectonic Films, chose Anne not because they had previously worked with one of her past co-stars, "Baler" co-star Jericho Rosales in its previous production, "Subject: I Love You." They actually made her work hard for it—in an audition—earlier this year. Well, actually Jericho did the same thing before landing the "Subject: I Love You" role.

Despite this, Anne, who was named Celebrity of the Year in the 2012 Yahoo! OMG! Awards, did not give Tectonic's Manila team a hard time in choosing who will play the role of Crystal, having that look and of course the acting chops she improved through the years. And in May, Anne bade a temporary farewell to local show business and started work on the film.

The film's plot, however, seems run-of-the-mill by Hollywood standards. Crystal is kidnapped by Alexander's character Jeremiah, who was forced to do the job. Crystal's boyfriend, Roman, who is Jeremiah's boss, then hires a hit man to hunt them down. As Crystal gets afflicted with some romantic form of Stockholm Syndrome, she decides she won't go back to her boyfriend and instead stay with Jeremiah as love develops between the two. Now they are both on the run and would dodge bullets, get on a car chase, and well, you get the idea and would know how it will end, perhaps.

While this is the reported plot of the story, which may not assure them a good run at the tills or even land a major studio deal or worse a distribution pact, there have been speculations that there will be a "supernatural" twist to it. Well, that teaser poster being shared on social networking sites might have suggested that. You could see Anne striking a mysterious pose behind Alexander, who seems to be forced into submission and her hands that seem to be "clawing."

Whether or not it would involve wolves, witches or vampires (even Abe Lincoln is being drawn to this), the film is still a major breakthrough for Anne, who is really the Philippines' most promising bet for international superstardom and maybe the next foreigner to conquer Hollywood after Noomi Rapace, Juliette Binoche, and Penelope Cruz, if she again plays her cards right. And, most likely, she will.
