Dingdong, Michael V. fail to win acting trophy at Asian TV Awards

Kapuso stars Dingdong Dantes and Michael V failed to get acting awards at the recently concluded 15th Asian TV Awards, held in Singapore yesterday, December 9.

Dingdong, who got a Best Drama Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role nomination, lost to Hong Kong's Bowie Lam (for "Sister of Pearl"). Other Best Drama Actor nominees are from Malaysia, China, and Taiwan.

The actor was nominated for his work in "Stairway to Heaven." He recently received a Best Actor recognition from the Philippine Movie Press Club for the same performance.

Meanwhile, Chua En Lai (for "The Noose 3") of Singapore won the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress, the category where Michael V. (for "Pepito Manoloto") was nominated.

Although it failed to clinch the top prize, the Maguindanao Massacre coverage of "24 Oras" was named Highly Commended in the Best News Program category. The award was won by "India by 9."

Other nominees for this year's Asian TV Awards include "Planet Philippines" (Best Natural History or Wildlife Program or Docu-Drama), "Bubble Gang" (Best Comedy Program), the "Ondoy's Wrath" episode of "Reporter's Notebook" (Best Current Affairs Program).

"Dahil May Isang Ikaw"-which starred Kristine Hermosa, Jericho Rosales, Gabby Concepcion, and Lorna Tolentino-is the only ABS-CBN program to be nominated in the 15th Asian TV Awards. It was nominated for the Best Drama Series category.
