Fearless forecast: Jessica on ‘AI’ Finals

Jessica Sanchez may be revealing some chink in her armor with some issues regarding song choice and performance, her unquestionable sheer talent will definitely prevail.

That was clearly evident on Wednesday's performance night determining who will end up the Top 6.

Performing Alicia Keys's "Fallin'" and later Otis Redding's "Try a Little Tenderness," it was definitely obvious that she was not about to fall out of the competition. A week after she nearly said goodbye, this is now a Jessica who really wants to be the next American Idol.

And, she did not want to fail her three "biggest fans" of the moment, the three AI judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez who all used their lone save option to keep her in the running. As Randy pleaded to vote for talent and Jennifer appeal to stop the madness when Jessica had been voted off, it showed their efforts did not go for naught as we saw a different Jessica this week.

With her powerful, soulful and riveting performance, Jessica seemed to have already won the competition as she knew what it takes to come back from a near debacle to seemingly capturing the title itself. And that attitude—her owning the stage, taking her failures in stride, and rising up to the occasion—will lead her to it.

Now she's getting closer after getting a huge rush of votes for her performance and the voting audience heeding the judges' call and her followers realizing that they should continuously vote for her that made her safe to get to the Top 6.

If Jessica continues this run and does not fall into the trap of being indifferent about her fortunes in the contest, picking whatever song she wants and singing it without any sense of purpose, we have the first contestant with Filipino blood to actually enter the Super Bowl of music, the American Idol finals.

Winning the title itself? Now that is something she must really want.
