GMA-7 reveals May lineup of new shows

The Kapuso network has unveiled its lineup of new shows for the month of May.

First off its list of new soap operas this month is "Munting Heredera," which will premiere this May 9. Leading the cast of this primetime soap opera is Gloria Romero, together with Roderick Paulate, Camille Prats and Mark Anthony Fernandez. Also part of the cast is Katrina Halili, who was last seen in 'Beauty Queen" with Iza Calzado.

"Munting Heredera" will also feature the network's newest young talents: Mona Louise Rey, Kyle Daniel Ocampo, and Barbara Miguel.

After appearing on "Dwarfina" and "Reel Love Presents: Tween Hearts," Kylie Padilla will soon star in the network's remake of the 80s film "Blusang Itim."

Frank Magalona (son of the late Francis Magalona) and Wynwyn Marquez (daughter of Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno) will join Kylie as the show's lead stars. "Blusang Item" will premiere this May 16.

Jackie Rice's afternoon show "Sisid" and Marian Rivera's primetime soap opera "Amaya" will both premiere May 30.

"Sisid," which also stars JC Tiuseco and Dominic Roco, is a soap opera that tackles pearl-diving.

"Amaya," perhaps one of the big-budgeted shows of GMA this year, is dubbed as the network's first epic-serye. The show (set during the Philippine pre-Spanish era) stars Mikael Daez and Sid Lucero as Marian's leading men. It will also serve as Marian's first original soap opera as a primetime leading woman after appearing in a string of hit television remakes, from "MariMar" in 2007 to "Endless Love" in 2010.

Meanwhile, Cesar Montano and Iza Calzado will star in the network's remake of the classic film "Andres de Saya" that starred Gloria Diaz and the late Vic Vargas. This weekly comedy will begin on May 28.

Kiddie shows "My Chubby World" and "Sabadabadog" will also premiere this month.
