Kris's birthday wish: 'Freedom' from marriage

Valentine's Day is also Kris Aquino's birthday. So how did the 'Queen of All Media' celebrate her special day?

According to her recent tweets, the celebration started days before her actual birthday. On February 12, Kris went to Camiling, Tarlac for her medical mission and gift giving activities. Saturday was spent with close friends and family; a private gathering where guests heard mass and prayed with her. She spent Sunday with her sons Joshua, Bimby and estranged husband James Yap, who Kris revealed gave her a "lovely bracelet and a heartwarming card."

However, Kris made a special appeal. In a taped interview with "SNN," Kris asked the public to spare her from the intrigues once people see her guests during the celebration last Saturday in media reports.

"Kung sino po ang mapapanood niyo na kasama naming nagdarasal, gusto [nila] makadasal ang pamilya ko, wag niyo po bigyan ng kulay o intriga. Kaibigan ko po ang mga nandoon." Kris probably was referring to Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay who was indeed seen during the party on Saturday. The mayor had been romantically linked to Kris but both maintained they are just good friends.

In one of her tweets, Kris also mentioned another personality who is being linked to her lately: ABS-CBN news anchor Ted Failon. According to the tweet, Ted gave her a birthday card with an "eloquent" message about life beginning at 40.

Still Kris maintains that she is only building friendships and nothing more, considering her current marital status. Kris is still legally married to James Yap but their annulment case is still pending at the Makati Regional Trial Court. In this regard, Kris said her ultimate birthday wish is to have freedom from her marriage.

"I want freedom. Yun lang. Gusto ko na legally matapos na lahat para maging malaya na kami ni James. Pareho na kaming makahanap ng kaligayahan namin na hindi namin naibigay sa isa't-isa," the actress-TV host said on "SNN."

Kris currently hosts ABS-CBN's newest game show, the local version of "The Price Is Right."
