TV5 sad over John, Randy's rift with Willie

TV5 expressed sadness over the controversy surrounding Willie Revillame, John Estrada and Randy Santiago that has resulted in a heated word war.

"We're sad that na affect friendship nilang tatlo," Perci Intalan, TV5 Head of Creative and Entertainment Production said in a text message to Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

John and Randy accepted an offer from ABS-CBN to host its new noontime show, "Happy Yipee Yehey!," which is set to premiere on Saturday, February 12. Their longtime friend, Willie Revillame, was upset by their move, claiming he had arranged for them to be part of an upcoming TV5 show with the network's top bosses. The three had headlined the ABS-CBN noontime show "Magandang Tanghali Bayan" from 1998-2005.

Days after Willie castigated them on air in his show "Willing Willie" last January 28, John announced his departure from his TV sitcom "Everybody Hapi" and the Sunday noontime variety show "PO5".

"John has taped his last episode of ‘PO5' and his remaining epsiodes (of ‘Everybody Hapi') will be airing this month," We would have wanted to finish the rest of the season for both shows but John opted not to finish them na, I guess he is starting to work on his daily show on abs-cbn. We wish him well and hope to one day be able to work with him again," Perci said in another text message.

However, John claimed that he was axed from "Everbody Hapi" in a press conference of his new noontime show on Tuesday, February 8. Because of this, he said, he was forced to resign from "PO5" and instead granted the broadcast rights of his wedding to Priscilla Meirelles to ABS-CBN.

In reaction, the TV5 executive said: "Basta we wish him well on his new show. Tagal rin namin siyang nakasama, and we hope na one day makatrabaho pa rin namin siya."
