It takes hard work to get rock hard abs. And March Men’s Health cover guy Jake Cuenca knows this. Gracing the magazine cover for the third time, Jake went on a diet for this. “I cut off on meat and, of course, carbs,” he shares. “I had a month to prepare for it and the moment they told me I was going to be on the cover, I cut meat from there. I also did my typical workouts: TRX and core kinesis.”
Jake is a self-confessed gym buff. For some people, they get tired after working out but it’s quite the contrary for Jake. “I work out every day and it’s kind of a routine for me already. It wakes me up and it energizes me,” he says. “If I can go before and in between tapings, I would.” Although he tries to work out every part of his body, he mainly focuses on his tummy area. “With the workouts that I do like TRX and core kinesis, I always have to engage my abs.”He has been going to the gym since he was 19. For Jake, working out was always something that he obligated himself to do. “It’s also for my job. I want to be prepared all the time. You know when they tell you take off your shirt in a movie or on TV, you want to be prepared for that,” he says. “You don’t want to be caught off guard.”
Although he works out more than one should, Jake is not into the whole big physique thing. “I just like to look lean. I kind of pegged myself with people I’ve seen, like for example David Beckham. It was never my goal to be big and bulky,” he says.

Still, like any other person, Jake is guilty of a few indulgences. “I go out and have that occasional beer,” he says with a laugh. “But whatever I take put in my body, I make sure to sweat it out the next day.”
