What’s keeping Jennylyn from having Luis as a boyfriend?
Despite their bitter break-up, Jennylyn Mercado is not yet ready to replace Dennis Trillo in her heart.
"Hindi ganon kadali makalimutan yon especially kung nagmahal ka," she told the press shortly before she bested other contenders, among them Marian Rivera and Angel Locsin for the "Hottest Actress" title in the first-ever Yahoo! OMG! Awards.
She and Luis Manzano may be exclusively dating. But Jennlyn refuses to say if she is already her new boyfriend. All she can say for now is that she likes him.
"Ang nagustuhan ko kay Luis ay ang pagiging very positive niya," Jennylyn admits.
Knowing that his mom also likes her is music to her ears.
"Natutuwa ako," Jennlyn says when asked to react about the good words Vilma Santos, Luis' mom, has for her.
But this doesn't mean Luis has become the pillar she leans on to when the going gets tough. After all she's been through, Jennlyn insists she has developed an inner strength that makes her weather any storm.
"Ang dami ko nang pinagdaanang intriga," she relates. "Kaya ko nang tumayo kahit wala ang kahit sino."
Jennylyn is proud of the fact that she can now fight her own battles and speak up for herself.
"Hindi ko na kailangan ang masasandalan," she explains. "Ang dami ko nang natutunan. At yon ang nagpapalakas sa akin."
Have her failed showbiz relationships taught her to be wary of having another showbiz boyfriend?
Jennylyn refuses to comment, even if Luis' presence says she has not shut the door on another showbiz romance.
Jennylyn has introduced Luis to her two-year-old son, Alex Jazz. The boy, who just entered pre-school, is said to be getting along fine with Luis.
Meanwhile, despite the good feedback she is getting as one of the "Showbiz Central" co-hosts, Jennylyn is not sure how long she will stay in the GMA 7 talk show.
What she is sure of though, is a new album, which is now in the works.
"It will carry my signature pop sound," Jennylyn reveals.
