Happy mother’s day mama @zsazsapadilla!
It's that beautiful time of year again when our loving moms take a day off to be treated like a "Queen."
To give you an idea of what this blog entry is about, I'll start off by sharing that my mom asked for Manny Pacquiao boxing match tickets. I was surprised at the request since Mother's day was always more of a lunch or dinner activity in my head but then I remembered that my mom has always been a fan of one of country's biggest heroes.
As the world evolves, so do the people that inhabit it and in turn even the stereotypes that some believe to be absolute truth. Let me just share how my mom proves some statements wrong.
"It's all downhill after 40"
In the 80s, mama ruled the music scene with her songs like Hiram, Point of No Return, Mambobola, and Ikaw Lamang. The hits came with the cobra hairdo, denim mini skirts and fuchsia pink outfits that have made a comeback in the fashion scene more than twice in the last decade. It earned her the adjective "fabulous" and aptly enough, Dr. Vicki Belo came out with a campaign with the famous tagline "Fabulous at Forty" a couple of years ago wherein mama showed off her great bod in a white one piece bathing suit. Aside from taking great care of her skin, she regularly trains at the gym with Top Trainer Master Rene. To find out what else is part of her beauty regimen, you should follow her on Twitter.
"Our moms are our heroes but they're not superheroes."
Apart from Archie, Betty and Veronica of Riverdale high, my favorite comic book character is Zsa Zsa Zaturnah. It was made after my mom's image and likeness no matter what the disclaimers say. Mama later starred in the movie of this Pinoy superhero.
Not impressed? Did you know that like Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man, mama has metal rods on her back made of Titanium alloy. She has two rods that were placed in her back to correct her scoliosis. In the words of my sister Nicole, "Mama's cool like that!"
"Moms are not hi-tech"
The Divine Diva is also a Divine Photoshop Wiz! I'm not going to post any incriminating evidence here because we're not giving away all our secrets. Haha! Mama is also on Facebook and Twitter.
I don't really mind it but I think my younger sisters should be alarmed that she could easily stalk them.
"Moms in their 40s don't try anything new"
Mama started composing her own songs for her album last year.

For some weird reason, I love dancing with mama.
That is how my mother breaks the mold. But like all good moms, Mama loves her mama too.
Happy Mother's Day to Lola Kating Padilla fondly called "Manga" by her apos (grandchildren). She is also called "the Divine Grandma" by her fans who are all TFC Subscribers.
