The Kitchen Musical
REWIND.
More than a year ago, I went to a very hush-hush audition for a new TV musical. I didn't actually know much about the project except that they were shooting a pilot (formerly known as a pitch tape) in Manila to present the project to networks, sponsors, etc.
FAST FORWARD - PLAY.
Almost a year later, I got a call saying that the project was pushing through and much to my surprise, it was going to be a regional TV series (read: to be shown in 16 countries) to be shot in Singapore. Capital W-O-W! The creator and director of the show, CheeK, together with The Group Entertainment's Wendy Ko, Jojo Yu, Ria Lacson and Studio 23's Vince Rodriguez and Mark Salamat met with me in the ABS-CBN building. They didn't really have to say much to convince me to become an OFW in Singapore.

We are shooting Week 9 of the Kitchen Musical. I've been an OFW for the past 3 months. I will be back in Manila in October just in time for the airing of the new show.

The show is genre-busting. It's like fusion cuisine. There's drama, comedy, dancing, a lot of singing and a lot of cooking...just check out the close up shots on the food! @anakarylle A: i miss you guys too. I'll be back in Manila 2nd week of October after a TFC show in Florida.
The director is CheeK from the Group Entertainment.
"The Kitchen Musical" will be shown on Studio 23 every Saturday from 7:30-8:30 PM. It will debut on 8 Oct 2011. The first episode will also be aired on ABS-CBN's "Sunday's Best." Follow @s23channel for more updates :)
Q: @jepiner asks @tongueincheek why did he think of a concept in the kitchen?
@tongueincheek A: I just wanted to fuse all the things I love into one unique dish.
Q: @megavi80 asks what will you be cooking? are there any guest chefs?
A: We will be cooking a lot of French food with a modern twist. There are no guest chefs on the show.
Creating the mouth-watering recipes for the show is Chef Bertrand Cheo. He is the Culinary Consultant.
Q: @tyriffic asks will there be duet songs/ scenes for you and @xtianbautista on TKM? i hope there is, i'm so excited Ms.K;)
A: Yes :)
Q: @allanladisla asks how many pinoys are in the cast? are there any pinoys behind the scenes?
@anakarylle A: There are 5 Filipinos in the cast: Art Acuña, Ikey Canoy, Christian Bautista, Thou Reyes and myself.
Art is based in New York and Manila. He just recently won a best supporting actor award for his work in Cinemalaya's "Nino."
Thou is a Star Magic talent last seen as Raphael in ABS-CBN's "Imortal." And yes, he was Hugo in "Betty la Fea."
Ikey Canoy was part of the Akafellas www.YouTube.com/watch?v=icWvQDqqS2U&feature=youtube_gdata_player . He will also be part of the Atlantis production of Little Mermaid.
Christian will be releasing his movie "A Special Symphony" in Indonesia very soon.
AJ Lacuesta, the assistant choreographer of Australian choreographer Jason Coleman is also a Filipino based in Melbourne. Gerard Salonga, the musical director & arranger works from Manila via source connect. We record from a studio here in Singapore and sing to him in his Alabang music studio. One time, Lea Salonga was even listening in our recording session.

There are two crew members whose significant other is Filipino. Kuya Aliester,the lighting director is married to a Cebuana and Daniel from the sound department has a Filipina girlfriend. Daniel watches TFC because he once told me when we took a photo together that "I'll tell everyone I took you away from Showtime."
