Rufa Mae wants to get married next year

“Bubble Gang” cast member Rufa Mae Quinto said she wants to get married next year.

Last Febraury, the Kapuso actress revealed that her wedding with her long-time non-showbiz boyfriend, originally planned for this year, was cancelled.

However, at a press visit at the set of “Bubble Gang” in Studio 6 of GMA Network last Monday, October 10, Rufa Mae said the wedding will still push through.

“Hindi naman sa hindi natuloy. Wala pang date, wala pang plano. Hindi naman madaling magpakasal e,” she said.

Rufa Mae also said: “By next year sana, I’m hoping next year, gusto ko na. Ako naman e. Ako naman ang mamimili e. Syempre, ako ito e. Ayoko naman mapuwersa dahil kailangan o nasabi ko na. Ayoko ng ganun.”

“Magaganap yun. Hindi ko lang binibigyan ng takdang date.”

'I love myself'

The actress explained one of the reasons why she chose not to have the wedding this year is because of the recent death of her grandmother, Lola Lucing.

“Namatayan ako. So yung focus ko, napunta sa kanya e. Tapos may babayaran ka na malaking-malaking bill so I have to work, di ba? Tapos may nanay ka pa rin na, syempre, paghahandaan mo rin pag nagkasakit or nagka-emergency,” Rufa Mae said.

The comedienne added she wanted to take care of herself first after taking care of her grandmother.

“After nung 40 days, didiskarte ka ng sarili mo e. So parang kang medyo nakahinga. Syempre, medyo tanggap mo na. So syempre gusto mong asikasuhin yung sarili mo,” she said. “Kaya ngayon yung time ko na I love myself. Tama na yung heaviness. Mas in love ako sa sarili ko e”

But Rufa Mae clarified: “Syempre, yung love-love naman, we’re still engaged.”

Respect for Pia

Speaking of weddings, Rufa Mae said she respects Pia Guanio's decision to keep her wedding with non-showbiz boyfriend Steve Mago private.

Rufa Mae and Pia host GMA-7's Sunday showbiz talk show “Showbiz Central,” along with John “Sweet” Lapus and Raymond Gutierrez.

“She never lied to me naman na she’s engaged, alam mo yun? Vocal naman sa akin si Pia pag may chance na chumika-chika. Pero hindi ko naman ugaling magtanong na magtanong,” Rufa Mae said.

The “Bubble Gang” star said she's happy Pia got her wish to have a private wedding ceremony. She might even do the same for her wedding, Rufa Mae added.

“Siguro kung ako, ang gagawin ko, sa reception na rin yung lahat-lahat na. Nakakapagod yun, ha. Maging abay ka lang sa isang kasal, ikaw mismo pagod na pagod. Ang dami-daming ginagawa kahit entourage ka lang ha. I think pag kinasal ka, mas grabeng-grabe yung effort. Parang concert na di natatapos,” she quipped.

“Bubble Gang's” two-part 16th anniversary special will air October 14 and 21 right after “Inside Protege” on GMA-7.
