'Thy Womb' an official Metro Filmfest entry

Nora Aunor’s internationally-acclaimed film, “Thy Womb”, is now an official entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Filmfest.

According to a report on TV Patrol on Friday, Oct. 19, Brillante "Dante" Mendoza’s film about an infertile Badjao midwife (Nora) finally made the cut after Unitel’s "Mga Kuwento Ni Lola Basyang" didn’t meet the production deadline and had to pull out of the filmfest.

In a text message sent to Yahoo! Philippines OMG!, Director Brillante who's currently in Mumbai for the Indian premiere of "Captive" expressed, "I'm happy and glad that we were given a chance to share our film with the Filipino audience. It's a nice Christmas gift for all the cast and crew to share a film that we are all proud of."

Nora and Mendoza are reportedly happy over this unexpected decision of the MMFF executive committee chair Francis Tolentino, who also heads the  Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

“Thy Womb” recently got a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival.  Shot in Tawi-Tawi, it also stars Bembol Roco, Lovi Poe and Mercedes Cabral.

Nora has another MMFF film entry, "El Presidente" wit Gov. E.R. Ejercito.
