1928 Jewelry Co. to create exclusive Downton Abbey collection

Vintage-inspired jewelry label 1928 Jewelry has signed a deal with "Downton Abbey" to produce a line of accessories inspired by the hit British television show.

First founded by Melvyn Bernie in 1968, 1928 Jewelry takes cues from vintage pieces and combines them with the latest trends to create chic jewelry with a retro twist.

The company has just signed a new deal with smash hit TV show "Downton Abbey" to produce a new line of jewels and accessories that complement the show's glamorous visuals. In fact, according to the brand, plenty of 1928 pieces have already featured in the show, picked out for their authentic early 20th century look by "Downton" costume designer Caroline McCall: "There was a lot of mutual respect there because we were already seeing our work on the show. It really was a fantastic match," Christina Lovejoy, 1928's design director told WWD.

Created by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes, "Downton", as ths show is affectionately known by its legions of fans, first hit screens in the UK in September 2010. Now broadcast in countries around the world, the show has recieved plenty of plaudits from both audiences and critics, and is the most nominated non-US show in the history of the famous Emmy television awards.

Featuring necklaces, earrings, brooches and hair pins, the Downton Abbey line by 1928 Jewelry will go on sale this fall with prices ranging from $22 to $38. US fans can pick up the pieces at Macy's and Amazon.com, while UK customers will be able to get their hands on the collection at House of Fraser, Debenhams and John Lewis department stores.
