3rd PMPC Star Awards for Music pays tribute to OPM

True to its vision and mission of supporting Original Pilipino Music (OPM),  Pilita Peralta-Uy of Beginnings at 21 Plus Inc. is giving the 3rd PMPC Star Awards for Music on Oct. 16  at Henry Lee Irwin Theater a  multi-million peso make-over.

"I just don't want presenters reading the nominees and just awarding the winners. I want a theme and I want to present it as prestigious as possible," explained Pilita.

She added that more than uplifting the image of the PMPC Star Awards for Music, she is safeguarding the image of her company. Beginnings at 21 Plus Inc. stages events and OPM concerts. It is also into dubbing and post-production. She is mum about the amount of money she'll be spending, though.

"We are experts in this field and we don't want people thinking otherwise. I've seen the past awards nights and I know we can do better. We're talking about Original Pilipino Music and talents and by giving them an award's night to remember is also honoring and respecting their achievements and talents," she said.

Even if producing foreign acts would mean more revenue for her, Pelita said she has turned down offers to do so because she believes in the Filipno talent and every peso spent in producing concerts featuring Filipino artists is worth it.

Pelita will honor singers who have been in the business for more than 40 years, and whose music has created an impact in the lives of Pinoy music lovers.

Nora Aunor is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

In the wake of Cindy Crawford’s unretouched photos, the images have been praised by critics of a beauty industry that sets impossibly high standards, standards that Queen Bey …
