‘A Gentleman’s Dignity’ Window Kiss Pushes Aside ‘Secret Garden’s Foam Kiss
The foam kiss between Ha Ji Won and Hyun Bin from the drama Secret Garden used to be considered the ultimate romantic kiss.
As the white foam from Ha Ji Won’s cappuccino gets dabbed on her lips, Hyun Bin gently wipes the foam away with his own lips. The foam kiss at the time was then done by Secret Garden’s Secretary Kim couple, as well as parodied on comedy programs. The foam kiss also became a trend amongst the general public as well.
After drawing a sweet picture of the beautiful couple’s love for each other with a foam kiss on Secret Garden, writer Kim Eun Sook has now signaled a new craze with the window kiss.
On June 24, Kim Eun Sook introduced a new kiss scene on SBS’ A Gentleman’s Dignity: Kim Ha Neul and Jang Dong Gun′s window kiss.
After Kim Do Jin (Jang Dong Gun)’s sudden farewell, Seo Yi Soo (Kim Ha Neul) begins feeling regretful. She visits him many times to change his heart, but only gets left out in the cold.
But when she listens to the audio files of ‘Kim Do Jin’s Secret Life,’ which he included when he gifted the laptop to her, Seo Yi Soo finds certainty in his feelings for her.
She then texts Kim Do Jin, “I’ll wait for you at the café where we first met,” but when Kim Do Jin arrives at the café, only traces of her presence are left.
Feeling devastated, Kim Do Jin sits in the seat where Seo Yi Soo sat and looked out the window, only to see Seo Yi Soo standing outside, like the day when they first met. They both gaze into each other eyes and share an unspoken time of affection.
Then Seo Yi Soo approaches the glass, still looking at Kim Do Jin, and brings her lips to the glass. With the window kiss, she belatedly confesses her feelings towards him, signaling the start of a new romance.
As a hit drama maker, writer Kim Eun Sook’s endless imagination has caused viewers to react one more. Even more so than the foam kiss, the window kiss announced an important transition into the next chapter of the story.
