Abbamania is back.  The tribute band that has  been performing the finest hits of ABBA, the Swedish pop group that best defined the ‘70s, for years, is back in the country.  The group will hold a series of live shows that will bring back memories of decades past starting March 21 at Solaire Resorts & Casino Grand Ballroom.

"Their magic is basically the ability to create music that serves as soundtrack to many people's lives," said Abbamania's musical director Steven Galert during a chat with the Philippine press last March 19.

The soundtrack includes classics like "Dancing Queen," "Take A Chance On Me," "Chiquitita," "Money, Money" "Thank You for the Music," and "The Winner Takes It All."

Return bout

This marks the second time Abbamania will entertain Filipino audiences. On March 22, they are scheduled to perform at the Plenary Hall of the PICC in Roxas Boulevard.

Ewa Scott, a Polish vocalist performing as the distinctively voiced-"girl with the golden hair" Agnetha Faltskog, noted, "Filipinos are lovely people and provide beautiful service."

The other two completing Abbamania are Sharon Fehlberg and Adam Robertson.

The other shows are set in key provinces: Baguio Country Club in Baguio City on March 25; Waterfront, Cebu City Hotel and Casino on March 27; L.L. Macias Sports & Cultural Center in Dumaguete City on March 28; and at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City on March 30.

Scott added, "It's already second nature to us doing the Abba act. We go on with our lives after every performance."

Relatable songs

Abbamania was established in 1998. It has traveled in all continents and staged sold-out shows in Demmark, England, Portugal, Belgium, France, Ireland, Germany, and others.

Produced by Viva Live Inc. and Redstone Media Productions, Abbamania also has in its fold guitarists Bryan Smith and Gareth Whitehead and drummer Lee Brady.

Galert argued, "ABBA songs just relate to anybody. We absolutely love their music."

Asked if they had a chance to meet the real ABBA members, Scott quipped, "I've been waiting for their phone call."
