'Absolutely Anything' adds to list of Robin Williams posthumous appearances

US actor Robin Williams

A first trailer for "Absolutely Anything" has Robin Williams voicing Dennis, canine companion for the surprisingly superpowered Neil Clarke (Simon Pegg). We take a look at five other late actors and actresses' notable posthumous appearances.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (1967-2014), "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" and "Part 2"
Already an Academy Award winner after "Capote," acclaimed character actor Philip Seymour Hoffman accepted the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in the Jennifer Lawrence-starring adaptation of "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay," and will appear in its second of two parts, due November 2015.

Paul Walker (1973-2013), "Furious 7"
Walker's biggest commercial success appears to be arriving after his own death, with "Furious 7" already the fourth highest grossing film of all time after its March 2015 debut. Two other posthumous appearances preceded it, with Walker leading both "Brick Mansions" and "Hours."

James Gandolfini (1961-2013), "The Drop"
Best known as the family patriach from six seasons of TV series "The Sopranos," New York crime film "The Drop" was Gandolfini's final appearance, opposite Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace now of "Child 44." However, it was touching romantic comedy "Enough Said," debuting a week earlier at the Toronto International Film Festival, that was his most well-received film work, netting nominations from a clutch of critics' associations and the Independent Spirit Awards.

Brittany Murphy (1977-2009), "Something Wicked"
A star name following her performance in satirical teen comedy "Clueless," a "King of the Hill" regular, and a crucial cast member in "Girl, Interrupted" and "8 Mile," Murphy passed away in 2009, but horror pic "Something Wicked," featuring her performance as psychiatrist to Shantel VanSanten of "Final Destination" and "One Tree Hill," came out in 2014.

Jill Clayburgh (1944-2010), "Bridesmaids"
A Best Actress award winner at Cannes with "An Unmarried Woman" and an Oscar Nominee for "Starting Over," Clayburgh played the mother of main character Annie Walker (Kristen Wiig) in what proved to be a breakout movie for several comedy stars -- "Bridesmaids." She also had another posthumous appearance in "Love & Other Drugs," which had the "Brokeback Mountain" pairing of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway as its leads.
