Adidas honors Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with limited edition kicks

The brand with the three-stripe logo has introduced a collection of basketball shoes in honor of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's all-time leading scorer.

To celebrate Black History Month this February, Adidas is paying tribute to one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

The new collection includes four iconic Adidas sneakers in new sepia and black colorways, each with an inspiring quote from a different period in Abdul-Jabbar's career. Part of the proceeds will go to the basketball legend's Sky Hook Foundation, which brings educational opportunities to youth in underserved communities.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who won the NBA's MVP Award six times during his career, played on the professional circuit for around two decades, from the late 1960s to the late 1980s, starting out with the Milwaukee Bucks and ending up with the Los Angeles Lakers. Today, he remains one of the most revered players of all time, and his fame extends well beyond the confines of the sport.

The first sneaker from the collection will be launched on January 23, followed by the three others at intervals through February. The limited edition designs will be available at www.adidas.com.
