'Adventure Time' games and the crews that made them

The newest assigned to the "Adventure Time" tie-in franchise already has three "Ben 10" games under its belt. Before that it had the challenge of working on a cult franchise with "Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon," oversaw two less-well received "Matt Hazard" games, and converted the acclaimed "Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords" for PSP and Xbox Live.

The studio best-associated with "Adventure Time" games, WayForward had created the well-liked "Shantae" and "Mighty Switch Force" series and a number of above-average licensed games. In between "Adventure Time" titles it made "DuckTales: Remastered," "Transformers" and "Regular Show" games, another "Shantae," and now the Apple Watch gains "Watch Quest! Heroes of Time."

One-man shop Twinsky, aka Tim Winsky, teamed up with artist Winston Powell for this tongue-twisting title. Powell had iOS game "Hello Color" on the App Store as a free download, while Winsky was fresh from completing "Temple Run" spoof "Indiana Stone." As of February, Tim has new project "Scoop'n Birds," while Powell's followers await more news of zen sandbox game "Sprout."
Adventure Time: Ski Safari (2013: iOS)

Straddling contract work and in-house projects, Defiant can count mobile hit "Rocket Bunnies" and monster-slaying action title "Heroes Call" among pre-"Adventure Time" highs. More recently, "Hand of Fate" borrowed inspiration from both card games and action-RPGs for an unusual but well-rated combination on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
Adventure Time - Legends of Ooo: Big Hollow Princess (2012: iOS, web browsers)

Prior to picking up its "Adventure Time" gig, Powerful Robot handled "Big Fat Awesome House Party" for Cartoon Network. But there was much more to this shop while it was around, counting noted academic Gonzalo Frasca of the thought-provoking "September 12" on its staff. His new Uraguayan studio Okidoko is now producing a school-age game about long division.
