Alwyn Uytingco, Jennica Garcia announce marriage
Alwyn Uytingco, 26, and longtime girlfriend Jennica Garcia, 24, think getting married at an age when most of their colleagues are still dating their significant other is fine because they have faith God is blessing them.
So they tied the knot in a highly-private Christian ceremony last February 12 at the Victory Christian Fellowship in Greenhills, with only a select group of family and friends headed by the officiating pastor as witnesses.
All about faith
“It’s all about our faith,” Alwyn told media after he and Jennica announced their wedding at the presscon of TV5’s “Wattpad Presents,” a new primetime romantic-comedy where they star in the love story titled “Dyepni.”
Jennica’s happy husband adds, “Si Lord ang kumausap sa akin. Sabi niya, ‘Gusto mo ba ng blessing ko? Ito ang gawin mo.”
Alwyn also revealed hearing the voice of God telling him that if he truly loves Jennica, he will marry her.
“It’s not about age. It’s about our relationship together and faith in God.”
Proud Jennica
Alwyn’s actions make Jennica so proud because her husband had the courage to “lay down his intentions.”
She knows most people will wait until they become more financially stable to tie the knot . But Jennica is giving Alwyn her vote of confidence.
“Naniniwala ako sa kakayahan niya para magkaron ng pera. The Lord will sustain us.”
Alwyn joked that he has sent resumes to various companies to look for other sources of income.
Flexible
But on a serious note, he said, ”Try ko maging flexible para mas may opportunity na ma-bless ako ni Lord. Magsisipag lang kami.”
He plays Jeffrey and Jennica is Nialla, who find themselves riding the same jeepney in the Wattpad story.
“Dyepni” is Alwyn and Jennica’s first project as a couple, and the latter already feels pressured to make her husband proud.
Postponed parenthood
“Happy ako at magkasama kaming dalawa. Pero awkward kapag pa-tweetums pa kaming dalawa. Gusto ko maging proud siya (Alwyn) sa akin kaya super push ako sa effort.”
Is she and Alwyn planning to have a baby to add to their family?
The ever-practical Jennica would rather wait because she wants to enjoy her husband’s company first “bago mag-alaga ng baby.”
This means her actress-mom, Jean Garcia, doesn’t have to be a grandma yet.
Mom’s reaction
“Gusto ni Mama two years pa kami bago magpakasal so nag-compromise na lang kami – one year,” relates Jennica.
The actress adds that her mom did not say outright that she’s against the wedding. She just wanted more time.
“Let’s give her time,” Jennica says.
Jean and Jennica’s dad, former actor Jigo Garcia (who has a non-showbiz wife) were present at the wedding.
Besides “Dyepni,” the other stories in Wattpad Presents (which airs 9:30 p.m., Monday to Friday starting October 20 are “Savage Cassanova” (starring Edward Mendez and Ritz Azul), to premiere October 27, “Fake Fiance” (starring Sophie Albert and Vin Abrenica) to debut November 3 and “Diary ng Hindi Malandi (Slight Lang),” starring Isabelle de Leon and Edgar Allan Guzman, which starts airing November 10.
