Angel Aquino's dual roles
Angel Aquino gets a kick out of acting and hosting.
“Hosting is a good breather for me. I enjoy doing it very much and I just have fun. I have fun with my crew, with my staff. Kasi it’s the same people from "Us Girls" eh. I’m at home already. Acting keeps me on my toes so that’s why I like doing both. With acting, you’re not so complacent, you’re always challenged delivering what’s needed to be there,” Angel said at the pocket press conference of “Interior Motives” on Thursday, August 2.
Angel hosts “Interior Motives”, Lifestyle Network’s new show on home décor and stars in ABS-CBN’s upcoming TV drama “Apoy sa Dagat” with Piolo Pascual and Angelica Panganiban.
'The real me'
Angel admits she doesn’t have a formal training in interior design, but her interest in “interiors and beautiful things” is her contribution in “Interior Motives”.
The show also features interior designers and their projects, as well as how to’s and tips for home improvement.
“I don't have a background on interior designing. This is some kind of a treat for me because the show is giving me ideas and slowly, I’m able to piece my own dream home. The show is very informative, it’s like I’m one of the viewers.”
She explains that TV hosting is closer to her personality and fashion background, while acting allows her to portray different characters.
“Because this is me, that's the real me, but slightly more glamorous and polished and glossy; but in acting kasi I see a lot of different people that I can be, so I'd really like to keep both.”
On her feisty onscreen characters
Angel isn't afraid to take on antagonist roles.
“If Angelica is already there as the bida, she needs a kontrabida, and that’s me. No, (I’m not worried to be typecast as an antagonist), because they see the real me in these shows (hosting), so I'm glad,” she said.
Since the 39-year-old mother has a lot of things happening in her life now, is Angel open to dating again?
“Not right now, no time kasi eh.But I’m having fun doing this and then my kids, so my plate is full. No space for that. Instead of me spending my free time with other people, eh di with them na lang,” she said.
