Anne Curtis picks up the pieces

Anne Curtis would rather forget the controversial slapping incident at Prive Luxury Club that almost put a dent on her career.

At the photo shoot for Belo Essentials, Anne said in an exclusive interview with Yahoo! Philippines OMG! that she’d rather start the new year fresh and happy.

“I like to leave all that in 2013. I’m looking forward to what 2014 has in store. That incident was an isolated case. It’s unfortunate that it happened, but it’s not something that happens all the time.”

The smile never left Anne’s face and she looked calm and collected.  She has learned to take the Prive incident as one of the low points in her life.

To questions on whether Anne retained her SMDC endorsement, Therese Ramos, Anne’s handler says the contract expired in December, and the company gave way to another Viva artist, Sarah Geronimo.

But if Anne is bothered about it, it doesn’t show.

Behind her strong facade is someone who retreats into her own cocoon when tough times come.  Anne admits she’d rather meditate and cry on her own when things don’t go her way.

Alone time

“I like doing things alone. It helps a lot. I have so many loving people around me and that helps. But sometimes you don’t want to be around people. You want to figure things out for yourself.  If you wanna cry, you cry. You pray about it.”

When these times happen, Anne describes herself as “very quiet.” It’s a far cry from the bubbly host we see in “It’s Showtime” and the endorser who flaunts inches and inches of flawless skin for Belo’s sun screen.

Anne wants to invoke that same silence about the Prive part of her life.

“I really don’t like to talk about it anymore. The more it’s spoken about, the more you’re inviting it back into your life.”

Besides, there are many bright spots in her life to talk about.  Anne is excited about shooting the trailer for “Dyesebel,” where she beat other actress for the title role.

History repeats itself

History is repeating itself, because Anne played a mermaid years back in another fantasy series, “Dyosa.” The role prepared her for another mermaid role in Dyesebel.

“Who would have thought Dyosa will prepare me for Dyesebel?” Anne said.

She still has time to smell the roses for now, since the cameras have yet to start grinding.  But when it does, Anne expects no more trips with friends and family except on holidays.  That’s fine with her, since she has a lot of holiday memories to perk her up.  Her last trip was in Canada for the New Year break.

That’s why Anne doesn’t mind continuing her tradition of making every February 17, her birthday, a working day.

Birthday blessings

“I believe it’s a blessing. It has worked in my favor. It’s like you’re inviting the blessings.”

With Dyesebel, It’s Showtime, and soon, a movie with Cristine Reyes and Sam Milby, Anne expects to have another working birthday this year.

“I’m really enjoying the moment. I know that once Dyesebel starts, I won’t have this kind of pace anymore.”
