Returning Viva artist Antoinette Taus is so happy to be back in the Philippines after staying 10 years in the US,  the smile doesn’t leave her face.

Nothing – absolutely nothing – can take away that smile, not even ugly talks that pit her against Marian Rivera, girlfriend of Antoinette’s ex-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes.

“Hindi pa kami nag-meet ni Marian. Matagal na gusto ni Dingdong na ipakilala siya sa akin pero hindi nagkakatugma ang schedule namin. I’m excited to meet her. Wala kaming  problema ni  Marian. May mga tao lang na gumagawa ng kulay. Hindi nga kami magkasunod  (as Dingdong’s girlfriend) so walang issue.”

Permanent stay

Now that she has decided to stay permanently in the Philippines, Antoinette is ready with her message to Marian.

“Sana huwag siya magpapadala sa outside forces.”

Antoinette doesn’t mind having her first-ever kissing scene with Dingdong, as long as his and Marian’s camp approve it.  After all, Antoinette feels comfortable with Dingdong because of their past relationship.

But she stresses that what happens on cam is totally different from what occurs off-cam.

“Ang daming  tao sa set. Ang daming nanonood. No matter what you do, nakakatakot.”

Performing vs editing

Life has given Antoinette many reasons to be brave.  Two years ago, she started a lifestyle magazine about successful Fil-Ams around the world.

It was something she never thought she can do, but Antoinette managed to stay on top of the magazine as editor-in-chief until she decided to shelve the project.

“Masyadong na-consume ang buhay ko sa magazine. Hindi ako naka-perform and focus sa ibang shows na gusto kong gawin. I had to choose between performing and doing the magazine.”

Her choice, of course, was a no-brainer: performing.  Besides, she reasons out, the magazine can wait.  She can always revamp it and turn it into an online magazine.

Exciting plans

For now, Antoinette is excited to pick up where she left off.  She wants to do TV shows, make an album, do movies, even stage productions.

“You will see a different Antoinette Taus. The real me is bubbly, outgoing, straightforward.  I want to do more projects like (the horror film) ‘Patayin sa Sindak si  Barbara’. Gusto kong makatrabaho kahit sino basta magaling para may pinaghuhugutan.”

She is most excited about doing an album and even co-producing it. Antoinette has discovered the songwriter in her while she was in the US and now wants an album of all-original songs she herself composed.

Experience has taught her so much, foremost of which is learning how to be happy on her own.

“When I was a teenager, naisip ko (pag may boyfriend ako), pakakasalan ko na siya, forever, (parang) fairy tale.  Mas importante at the  end of the day, for you to find happiness on your own.  Lahat  ng tao pwedeng mawala. Ang mommy ko was the center of my world tapos nawala siya. It was very hard for me.  If you can find true peace on your own, you will always be happy."

Antoinette has found true peace. And you can’t help but be happy for her.
