Are Empress’ parents overprotecting her?
Empress Schuck may already be a young adult after she turned 19 on Sunday, February 19, but she doesn’t mind her parents still closely watching and protecting her.
Her parents still accompany Empress during tapings and other showbiz commitments. This makes other people think they are shielding her from suitors.
“Ako never ko naisip na, ‘Wag kayo dito.’ Actually, minsan si Mama iniiwan nya ako sa taping. Sinasabi ko na, ‘Wag ka nang umalis, dito ka lang.’ Okay lang sa akin yun, wala naman akong nakikitang masama doon,” Empress told Yahoo! OMG Philippines and members of the press at a birthday and charity event at Ephesus Home for Women and Children in Guiginto, Bulacan on Tuesday, February 14.
The “Mundo Man ay Magunaw” lead star explains that her parents join her in her showbiz commitments to support and guide.
At the birthday party for instance, her father was busy taking photos of her and the children. He also helped out in giving food.
“Si Papa minsan na lang din sumama. Minsan pag special events, sumasama si Papa. Pero more on support, hindi naman para sa talagang sorang bantayan ako. Syempre, support po yung ginagawa nila,” she said.
On Ejay
Empress clarified rumors that her parents don’t want her leading man Ejay Falcon to court her. She considers him her closest male friend in showbiz, but Empress insists he is not wooing her.
“Siguro protective lang sila. Pero wala rin naman kasi syang (Ejay) sinasabi (na nangliligaw).”
She and Ejay first started working as a love team in ABS-CBN’s TV drama “Guns and Roses.” Empress thinks it’s better for them to remain friends for now.
“Basta ang alam ko sa ngayon, friends kami kasi kami lagi ang magkasama. Pero yung ganoong level, hindi pa muna. Kasi para sa akin, pag ganoon kaaga, dapat kailangan na kilalanin muna ang isa’t isa,” she said.
Would it be hard for Ejay to court her since her parents are strict?
“Kung gusto naman nya at kung desidido sya, kahit naman maraming nakabantay, kung go sya, sya na bahala doon,” she replied in jest.
She shared that Ejay’s advance birthday gift is a cellular phone.
Going sexy?
Now that she has turned a year older, will Empress eventually take the sexy route in her career?
“Hindi naman super. Pero sa lahat naman ng bagay, kelangan mong mag-level up, kelangan mong mag-grow. Katulad nyan, mas pumayat na ako ng konti, mas naging dalaga na. Pero kung sa mga pa-sexy, konting maturity lang ang idadagdag ko, pero yung wholesomeness, andyan pa rin,” she said.
Since she feels blessed in her showbiz career and the family business, Empress wants to help more people.
“Gusto kong makatulong pa. At sana dumami pa ang blessings ko para mas makapagshare pa ako. More projects , happiness and good health sa aming lahat. Sana magtuloy-tuloy pa at marami akong matulungan,” she said.
Empress is happy with the good feedback she has been getting for “Mundo Man ay Magunaw.” She adds that she hopes to inspire aspiring and new actors.
“Since nung nag-air sya, laging positive feedback ang natatanggap ko sa Twitter. Magaling raw, maganda ang storya at magaling ang casts. Masaya kasi parang ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng ganoong telesrye na ganoon ang pagtanggap,” Empress stressed.
