The most prominent fairs taking place in the city during Miami Art Week include Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Miami and Design Miami.

The Art Miami Pavilion
The opening day of Miami’s longest running contemporary art fair, Art Miami, will coincide with the launch of Miami Art Week. The event will welcome thousands of collectors and art enthusiasts who descend on the city to view the myriad of art fairs that take place in Miami during the first week of December. Contemporary art works from over 100 international and local contemporary art galleries will be on display at Art Miami. In 2010 close to 50,000 people attended the show.

As the sister event of Switzerland's Art Basel, the "most prestigious art show worldwide for the past 41 years," Art Basel Miami Beach is an event firmly fixed on every art collector's calender. In 2010 over 250 leading art galleries showcased artworks from more than 2,000 artists and a record 46,000 people attended the show. The prestigious event is now in its 10th year and functions as a space for showcasing the crème de la crème of contemporary art and as a social networking event for the who's who of the American art scene. A range of exhibitions, special events and parties will be held in conjunction with Art Basel Miami Beach including Design Miami, Art Miami, the Scope Art Show, and Aqua Art.

4th SIGGRAPH Asia

The International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (SIGGRAPH) is a four-day event that digs deep into the world of computer graphics, 3D modeling and digital imaging. The latest gadgets, hardware, software and technology will be presented alongside SIGGRAPH Asia's computer animation festival, a symposium on mobile apps, art exhibitions, hands on courses, and presentations of cutting-edge technical and research papers. SIGGRAPH Asia is the sister event to the much bigger international SIGGRAPH (which will be held in Los Angeles in August 2012); in 2010 SIGGRAPH Asia attracted more than 9,200 visitors from 47 countries while the 2011 edition of SIGGRAPH drew 15,800 visitors.

36th Sydney Festival

The Sydney Festival is Australia's largest summer festival. With its more than one million visitors, it outshines Australia's other arts festivals, including the Perth International Arts Festival, the Brisbane Festival and the Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts. It has been running since 1977 and aims to showcase local and international talent while at the same time celebrating Australian culture. More than 1,500 local and international artists in the fields of dance, theater, music, visual arts, and cross media platforms will be involved in the 2012 Sydney Festival. Most events are free to the public. For the first time, Western Sydney will also have its own 10-day program as part of the inaugural and concurrent Sydney Festival Parramatta.

24th London Art Fair

The London Art Fair is hailed as the event that "launches the art world year in the UK." This long-standing event is in its 24th year and will host 120 galleries in 2012. Last year the event attracted more than 24,000 visitors, making it the largest modern british and contemporary art fair in the UK (slightly larger than London's Art London and 20/21 British Art Fair). The popular Art Projects and Photo50 sections will be featured alongside the main event which boasts works by Bridget Riley, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Damien Hirst and Keith Coventry.
