Singer-songwriter and The Voice Philippines coach Bamboo Manalac feels sad contestant Joniver Robles had to suddenly leave the show due to ‘personal reasons.’

“I’m sad to see him go. Everything happens for reason. The sun comes up the next day. We have to get through the work and live. That’s life. We have disappointments. That’s how you rise above it,” he said after Jollibee introduced the rock star as its latest brand ambassador on Wednesday, January 21.

Bamboo advised Joniver to look past the show and ignore negative things he hears from fans.

‘Enough of negativity’

“Take the high road. Enough of the negativity. If fans are saying negative things, they’re not doing him good. Just support the guy before and after the show.”

It will be recalled that Bamboo announced last Sunday, January 18 that Joniver will no longer be part of “The Voice Philippines.” Rita Martinez has replaced Joniver.

But the eliminated contestant didn’t take the decision lightly. His Facebook post said that “I didn't know what to do and not hearing anything from my coach and teammates or anyone from the show made me wait until tonight. IT WAS TAKEN AWAY FROM ME.”

He added in the same post, “I am saying this because these people can always make up lies to be used against me.”

Bright future

Bamboo, for his part, said he knew about the decision to remove Joniver from his team and the show itself weeks before the announcement was made.

The Jag Jeans endorser thinks Joniver has a bright future ahead of him even after the show.

“Think past the show. I believe in your talent.”

Bamboo wishes Joniver well and hopes he decides “what’s best for him.”

Meanwhile, Bamboo announced that he will come up with a new album, still under Polyeast Records.
