Bb. Pilpinas World 2008 Danielle Castaño: After you, Ms. Gloria!

After starring in Mario O’ Hara’s Cinemalaya film “Ang Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio” and TV5’s defunct teen show “Iskul Bukol,” Bb. Pilipinas-World 2008 Danielle Castaño now wants to try hosting.

“I’m trying to make a comeback in showbiz. I want to be known as an actress or a host,” Danielle said in a pocket interview at Viva Entertainment’s office on Thursday, February 9.

Danielle competed in the 2008  Miss World beauty pageant in South Africa in 2008 and bagged a spot in Top 32.

She is on the cover of FHM magazine’s February 2012 issue, together with  fellow Viva artist Jade Lopez.

After signing a  five-year contract with Viva last October 2011, Danielle is busy with events, hosting and promotions for the magazine. She is also eyeing a stint in a TV drama or a teleserye for her comeback.

“I wanna do my best. If I’ll be given a chance to do a TV project, I want to do a drama. Because when I did the film, director Mario O’ Hara was happy with my performance,” she said.

Who among the male actors does she want to work with?

“I want to work with Derek Ramsey. Not only him. I would like to explore rin, as well. Pag bibigyan ako ng ka-love team, syempre, why not grab it?” she replied.

Danielle admitted that getting a break and making it in showbiz is a tough act. Some of her Bb Pilipinas contemporaries, like Bianca Manalo and Venus Raj have entered showbiz, but Danielle doesn’t see them as competition.

“I don’t see it as a competition getting in showbiz right now. I see it as a challenge, of course, syempre because there are lots of newcomers, and also beauty queens (entering showbiz),” Danielle said.

She believes that she can also make a name in showbiz as long as she continuously works hard.

“I believe that if you want something to happen in your life, if you want to achieve your goal, makukuha mo rin as long as there’s hard work and perseverance for it,” Danielle said.

Among Filipino beauty queens, Danielle admires Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz the most.  Gloria has also established herself as an actress.

“Not only does she show beauty in the physical aspect, she exudes intelligence as well. Until this decade, she is being remembered in our country  as a former Miss Universe and as aside from being an actress,” Danielle explained.

The athletic beauty queen did not hesitate to pose for a sexy magazine since her mother allowed her to do so. She also doesn’t think her responsibility as a Bb. Pilipinas beauty queen would create a problem as other Bb. Pilipinas beauties have posed for the said magazine.

“My mother approved and I’m happy about it. The opportunity was there, so why not grab it? There are also bunch of beauty queens like Carlene (Aguilar), Maggie (Wilson), Bianca Manalo, they also posed for FHM before. So, I don’t think it’s a bad thing,” Danielle goes on.

She adds that she enjoyed posing with Jade on the cover.

“They said na they want two girls for February issue to double the love. I’m happy with the outcome,” Danielle reveals.
