Did Strawberry Lane lead actress Bea Binene snub her younger co-stars at the recent presscon of the new GMA 7 light family drama series? Reports have it that Bea greeted the series’ senior stars, Boots Anson-Roa and Chanda Romero, but ignored the younger ones.

“I choose my battles,” she says.  “Natutunan ko sa ten years in showbiz kung ano ang dapat bigyan ng pansin at kung ano ang hindi.  I learned  not to make patol to everything.”

Bea says she's happy for younger stars because their teleseryes will give them the experience they need to shine.

“Ang cu-cute nila!” she exclaimed.

Bea even has pieces of advice to much younger stars who want to last 10 years in the business just like her.

“Magpursige sila.  Be professional. Makinig sa instructions. Dapat gusto nila ang ginagawa nila kasi kung hindi, di sila tatagal. At daanin sa dasal.”

Growth as an actress

Bea would rather focus on what will make her grow as a person and as an actress.

“Natutunan ko na mag-focus sa mga bagay na mas ikasasaya at ikabubuti ko kesa tuunan ng pansin at labanan ang mga taong walang magawa sa buhay nila and are doing everything to bring me down.”

One of the things that will make her grow is constructive criticism, which she listens to because she knows it will make her “grow sa trabaho ko.”

Growing in experience

Another is growing in terms of experience because it will make her a better actress.

“Dati, nahihirapan ako umiyak. At least ngayon, kahit papano, okay na.”

Jake Vargas’ co-star and girlfriend (hence the name JhaBea, 2014 Yahoo Celebrity Awards’ Celebrity Couple of the Year) has so many things to focus on, she can’t even find time for her favorite sport, wushu.

Besides daily tapings for Strawberry Lane, Bea is busy as a regular in “Vampire ang Daddy Ko.” She also guests in “Pepito Manaloto.” Early next year, she and Jake will start shooting the movie “Liwanag sa Dilim.”

Dreams of college

Busy as she is with showbiz assignments, Bea has not forgotten another dream – to finish college. The third year high school student (she enrolled online) wants a degree in Mass Communication.

Bea knows education will equip her to face the future – as an actress and as a person.

“I’m ready for whatever life brings. As long as alam kong hindi totoo at below the belt, hindi ko papatulan.”

The controversies she’s been through have made the battle-scarred Bea wiser. She expects to keep it up in the next ten years of her stay in showbiz.
