Beanie Babies honors Cecil the lion in plush toy

Cecil the lion Beanie Baby

Cecil, the beloved Zimbabwe lion killed by a trophy hunter, has been resurrected as a Beanie Baby, with all profits set to be donated to charity.

Ty Inc., the largest manufacturer of plush toys in the world, has launched Cecil the Lion Beanie baby, with 100 percent of sales profits slated to go to WildCRU, the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at the University of Oxford in England.

Among WildCRU’s projects are the Hwange lion study in Zimbabwe set up in 1999, one of the longest-running lion conservation projects in Africa.
