Bella Freud launches her debut fragrance collection

The designer has unveiled three new perfumes, her first foray into the world of fragrances.

Bella Freud's debut fragrance collection features two women's scents as well as a unisex option: Je t'aime Jane, Ginsberg is God and 1970. Freud worked with perfumer Azzi Glasser, best known for creating the Agent Provocateur Parfums, as well as scents for Nicole Farhi, Jasper Conran and Illamasqua, to create the three juices.

The ladylike Je t'aime Jane mixes jasmine, Queen of the Night flower, ylang ylang and orange blossom over a base of black oud, sandalwood and musk. The unisex Ginsberg is God opens with black pepper and elemi before revealing wormwood, moss and leather. The hedonistic 1970 blends Rose de Mai and saffron over a base accord of frankincense, myrrh and benzoin and hints of blonde wood.

Best known as a designer for her exclusive knitwear, Freud is the daughter of legendary 20th-century painter Lucien Freud and the great-granddaughter of the famous inventor of psychoanalysis.

The fragrances are available exclusively at Harvey Nichols in London and online via Bella Freud, priced at £65 for a 50ml bottle.
