Dr. Vicki Belo’s Belo Medical Group and its endorser Ruffa Gutierrez are the latest victims of false online advertisements. One of them, supposedly posted on Facebook by FitFirst Magazine, said Dr. Belo’s company fired Ruffa as endorser because she admitted taking African diet pills to lose weight.

A quick check at the FitFirst Magazine Facebook account showed that the magazine has not posted any statement so far. But the alleged statement quickly caught netizens’ attention, prompting the Belo Medical Group and Ruffa to issue statements denying its contents.

“It’s a LIE!”

Ruffa posted in her offiicial website iloveruffag.com last Friday, September 5: "... Do not believe fake, paid advertisements saying that I lost weight due to African diet pills. It's a LIE! I've had #LaserLipo on my arms by @victoria_belo , I eat healthy, I work out, and use non-invasive machines of @belobeauty & Sexy Solutions. That's why I lost weight. I'm proud to be a #BeloBaby & have a #BeloBody"

She accompanied the post with photos of herself before and after she experienced Belo’s laser lipo arm procedure.

Meanwhile, the Belo Medical Group, through Cristalle Belo Henares, warned against ads claiming to offer effective beauty solutions for celebrities.

‘Malicious news’

The company denounced the supposed FitFirst magazine Facebook post as malicious and said Ruffa remains one of Belo Medical Group’s endorsers.

The statement in full:

"We would like to warn the public to check the accuracy and legitimacy of certain advertisements promoting beauty and slimming products that are claiming to be effective and used by both local and international celebrities. We have seen several ads in the past months where the images of the Belo endorsers, and even Dr. Belo, were used without permission and spreading false claims to attract the public to buy their products. A recent sponsored Facebook post of FitFirst Magazine showed that Ruffa Gutierrez was fired by Dr. Vicki Belo because she admitted that she lost weight due to the African Diet Pills. Belo Medical Group denounces such malicious news. Ruffa is still our endorser and that she regularly visits our clinics for her beauty and slimming procedures. "
